If you are receiving this email on the first pass, its because I respect you and I know you do great work. Jonathan Nellis asked me to crew up his music video that he is shooting tomorrow at 6 am in Hollywood. It's last minute because the funding just got authorized last night.
The location is near downtown LA near south of the 10. There is one location move to Hollywood and vine on Friday. The talent is 1 and 100 to 200 extras with an AD managing that.
Jonathan's current crew is in addition to himself and his DP consists of 3 grips and 1 gaffer. He needs some steady hands and active listeners to set up and strike equipment.
As many of you know, Jonathan is an Ai graduate. He went the way of the entrepreneur and for him business is booming. One of his contacts did a lot of free work for William Morris Agency and now they are repaying the favor with Music videos and low budget features.
Jonathan has already done music videos for Chris Brown, Nick Cannon, Lil Zane, Ruben Cannon, Hot Dollar and many other main stream music videos.
The first gig is unpaid. You will get great meals and learn a lot but after that first day, you will be able to negotiate a proper business arrangement beyond that.
If you read the biographies of the directors that are happening now, most of them started out just as Jonathan did and it wouldn't surprise me if Jonathan ends up like David Fincher.
I have never worked with Jonathan. We talked about renting out equipment from him during my prep for A PARADISE OF BACHELORS. But my friends who do know him say he does great work and is honest as the day is long.
One last thing, this man is an Ai grad. We must support him as a matter of principle. I will not be there. I am shooting with Johnny Gallardo and I gave him my word. But if you can't be there, please spread this around.
