Men outnumbered women on the frontier. Men protected women in the face of Indian raids and race riots. We expect you to square dance, clog, zydeco, Texas two step, Cajun two step, or waltz country western dance.
Dances would go on for days. Women were rare on the frontier so unmarried women never had a break during dance. A dance could procure a love match if her parents did not have one in mind for her.
